Gastric Bypass (Roux-en-Y Surgery)
In this procedure, the stomach is divided into two sections, a small upper pouch and a larger lower pouch, both of which is later connected directly to the small intestine through rearranging. This method bypasses a large portion of the digestive system making it possible to absorb minimal calories from the food. The surgery can be minimally invasive or can be done as open surgery as well.
